- After ground has frozen cover roses with salt marsh hay or straw to insulate the ground and keep it frozen. *

| Trees and Shrubs: |
- Evergreens and shrubs may need extra protection, such as a wind screen made out of burlap and/or mulch at the base, especially if newly planted.
- Spray evergreens with anti-transpirant.
- Be sure ground is frozen before mulching. *
